Your tour will start on Champs-Élysées avenue among it’s upmarket boutiques and luxurious restaurants, in the shade of age-old trees. The name Champs-Élysées originated from Greek mythology, and means the Elisian fields – the blessed islands and the place of joy and happiness. You’ll experience what this blessed life was like, and travel back in time through several centuries of Parisian history.
For many centuries, the surrounding area of Champs-Élysées was the Parisian countryside, which had kitchen gardens and acted as the duck-hunting domain for the royal family until the 16th century. At this time, Ekaterina Medici came up with the idea to extend the promenade of Tuileries Gardens from the Louvre further outside of Paris. Over time, the walking promenade turned into fashionable avenue, with trees on either side, large impressive houses and buildings attracting visitors from all over the world. Your enthusiastic guide will share with you the most fascinating stories of the Champs-Élysées.
You'll then skip the line to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and discover the panoramic views of the famous highlights of Paris including the Eiffel Tower. Built at the entrance of the city, facing the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe celebrates the victories of Napoleon Bonaparte empire. Your guide will give an entertaining and insightful explanation of what you can see.
